On her first day at school, Phyllis Webstad wore a brand new orange shirt gifted to her by her grandmother. Unfortunately, the school she attended was a residental school. Upon arrival she was stripped of her beloved shirt never to see it again.

The stories are haunting. The more we learn, the more we find ourselves wondering how we might do better. What is needed to authentically engage in and embody Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and with the land?

Sunday, Oct. 1st, as we conclude our Season of Creation celebrations, we seek to honour our relationships with Indigenous Peoples, respect the wisdom they offer in regards to Creation, and pray for transformation.

All are encouraged to wear orange as a sign of our hope and commitment.
